About Us
The Watertown Meat Center is located in the heart of Watertown, CT right across from the Watertown Library. It has been a staple in this town for over 33 years, always known for bringing its customers the best quality meats, deli, seafood & produce, all at the best prices around. The current owners, Jessica and Carmine DiSapio Jr, took ownership on April 16, 2016 from Christy and John Buso who built an amazing store that our customers have come to know and love!
Carmine Jr started in the grocery business when he was 14 years old working under his grandfather Pat, at Pats IGA in Wolcott. In 1991, his mother and father opened Pat's Marketplace in Watertown, where Carmine was the produce manager until the fall of 2003. From 2003 until this April, he has worked for his Uncles at Pat's IGA in Wolcott as their produce manager. Now, Carmine and his wife, Jessica, have started a new venture together at the Watertown Meat Center. They have three sons, Mitchell, Carmine III, and Jack.
Jessica, as well as her parents, were born and raised in Watertown and still lives in town with her husband and three boys. Graduating from Watertown High School in 1990 and then from Central Connecticut State University with an Elementary Education degree in 1996. When the children were very small, Jessica did the bookkeeping for her father-in-law at Pat's Marketplace, getting her first and only experience in the grocery business until now. In 2000, when her oldest was three, she took over her mother's preschool, Ledgewood Private Preschool, and relocated to 720 Thomaston Road. In 2004, she opened at daycare in Thomaston, Ledgewood Too!. Jessica has many passions, she loves to work with children, she always loved volunteering in her childrens' schools, and ran the Watertown Lacrosse Association for 7 years. Now, she is directing her schools and working side by side with her husband at the Meat Center.
The Watertown Meat Center has always been a dream of theirs. Jessica would commonly say at their Sunday night dinners at the in-laws that someday the two of them would own the Meat Center. One day in October of 2015, Carmine's sister, Rose, was talking with Christy and mentioned that her brother and his wife would love to own the store. A week or two later, Christy called Jessica and they met for coffee, immediately they had become friends. Christy knew the fit was right and she finally found someone to take over what she worked so hard for over the years. One thing led to another and everything kept falling into place. Jessica is a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and if its meant to be it will be. They started the process at the end of November and the process went on without a glitch. On Friday, April 15, 2016, they signed the papers with Christy and their dream came true!
